Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments
Jane has been involved in Environmental Impact Assessments for a range of project types including power stations, commercial mining operations, infrastructure projects, subdivisions and the construction of a telecommunications network. Within this work Jane has undertaken research and prepared reports in relation to and in consultation with other consulting specialists regarding soils, geology and surface water impacts with a specialty in Visual Impact Assessment. These studies have involved both government and private enterprise projects. Recent involvement includes:
- Visual Assessment for a new sheet pile wall installation as part of the Hunter River Remediation Works, for Newcastle Ports Authority.
- NSW Schools Ecological Assessments for Bovis Lendlease.
- B2 Bayswater Power Station Visual Assessment.
- Bellsouth Telecommunications Network NZ for Bell Atlantic Visual Assessment, site selection and mitigation techniques for telecommunication poles, dishes, pods and ancilliary structures throughout NZ. This work also included providing Expert Evidence.
- Caltex service stations/retail network, Visual Assessment and Planting Plans, NZ
Environmental Management Plans and Planting Plans
Jane has prepared a number of Environmental Management Plans primarily in respect of public parks and reserves. In consultation with Council, stake holders and various consultants Jane has set objectives and strategies in order to achieve optimum environmental sustainability whilst satisfying the requirements of stakeholders. This has involved a review of all existing information and assessment of landscape, fauna and flora, existing landuses and zoning adjacency, legislative frameworks, stakeholder requirements, local council and community needs. Jane has undertaken and been responsible for community surveys, public consultation, engagement and direction of specialist consultants.
Previous projects include:
- Tomago Substation Landscape Remediation Plan for Energy 2U Alliance, including planting guidelines and strategies in respect of revegetation.
- Auckland Domain Management Plan, (Largest CBD open space in Auckland, NZ) Auckland City Council
- Reserve Management Plans for parks and reserves within Papakura District Council (NZ)
- Planting Plans and Specifications for various domestic and commercial development projects in New Zealand and Australia.
Masterplanning and Landuse Planning
Jane has been involved in master planning and site planning for a variety of projects including subdivisions, parks and reserves, public spaces, condominia and resorts.
These projects demonstrate her ability to think broadly about multiple and competing
issues and to develop practical spatial solutions on the ground.
- Aquapark Zambrone, Italy. Masterplanning of the site to include new accommodation and recreation facilities within a steep and undulating coastal site in southern Italy.
- Salford Forest Park 1690 acres of rural wooded land and landfill near Manchester, England. Landuse planning techniques were used to define and incorporate a race course, equestrian centre, eco village, visitor centre, hotel, bush and bike trails and infrastructure linking all components within the site.(Peel Holdings)
- Sutera Harbour Resort, Sabah, Malaysia, masterplanning of a reclaimed and formed area of land comprising a golf club, marina, recreation facilities, hotels and open space. OCK Holdings Pte.
